All About Cassie’s Parents, Regina and Rodrick Ventura

NEED TO KNOW

  • Cassie was raised by her parents, Regina and Rodrick, in Connecticut
  • The “Me & U” singer called them her “greatest support system”
  • Regina was quoted in Cassie’s 2023 lawsuit against her ex Diddy

Cassie has a big support system in her parents, Regina and Rodrick.

The R&B singer — whose full name is Casandra “Cassie” Ventura — was raised by her mom and dad in Connecticut. Now, Cassie is considered the star witness in her ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial, for which he has pleaded not guilty to five counts of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.

While her parents have been mostly out of the spotlight, she has been vocal about their support throughout her life. During a February 2007 conversation with The New York Times, Cassie opened up about Regina and Rodrick’s influence, saying, “My parents raised me right.”

“I work hard, and I want to prove I deserve what I have. I talk to them every day,” she said, adding that they “keep [her] focused.”

Over the years, Cassie has shared several glimpses of her relationship with her parents on social media. In December 2018, she posted an Instagram photo with her husband, Alex Fine, and Regina, writing, “I love you Mommy.”

From their heritage to how they support her, here’s everything to know about Cassie’s parents, Regina and Rodrick.

Cassie was brought up by her parents — an “army brat” mom and “navy brat” dad — in Connecticut, as she said during a January 2008 interview with Blackfilm.

“My childhood was fun,” she told the outlet, adding that it was “pretty carefree.”

“I tried a little of everything when I was little,” Cassie said. “I tried karate, I tried ballet, I tried piano lessons and singing lessons. … I was a pretty normal kid, for the most part.”

According to The New York Times, her mother, Regina, formerly worked as an administrative assistant at Pfizer, which has its headquarters in nearby New York.

As Cassie told Blackfilm, her dad is Filipino, while her mom is Mexican, Black and West Indian.

The genes run strong in Cassie’s family, as the singer often refers to her father on Instagram as her “twin.”

“Happy Father’s Day to my twin,” she wrote in a June 2020 Instagram post. “I love you so much. Can’t wait to hug you ♥️.”

In June 2021, Cassie shared a heartfelt Instagram tribute in honor of Father’s Day, from a “Forever Daddy’s Girl.”

“Happy Father’s Day Daddy!! I’m a day late, but I know that it doesn’t matter to you because we FaceTimed yesterday and we probably will again today ☺️,” she wrote. “Dad, you are love.”

Cassie continued, “This message doesn’t even come close to describing the amazing human that you are and how much I love and appreciate you. Thank you for being you. You get me and I love you so much ♥️.”

But while the singer’s post was for her father, she had sweet words for both her parents.

“You (and Mom) have been my greatest support system and THE most real and true example of unconditional love,” Cassie added.

They are grandparents

Cassie’s parents became grandparents when the “Me & U” vocalist welcomed her first child, Frankie Stone, on Dec. 6, 2019.

Her family expanded on March 22, 2021, when Cassie and her husband Fine welcomed their second child, daughter Sunny Cinco.

In her June 2021 Instagram post, Cassie wrote that it has been the “most beautiful experience” watching her father become a “PAPA!!”

She continued, “Frankie and Sunny love you so much and they’re so lucky to have a Papa like you.”

Cassie is currently expecting her third child with Fine.

They were “skeptical” of Diddy’s “display of wealth”

In November 2023, Cassie filed a lawsuit against her ex, Diddy, accusing him of sexual and physical assault throughout their relationship. The pair dated on-and-off for several years, though Cassie alleged that she was stuck in a decade-long “cycle of abuse, violence and sex trafficking.”

According to USA Today, the lawsuit stated that Cassie’s parents were “skeptical of [his] displays of wealth” early in their relationship.

The suit was settled one day later, but in September 2024, Combs was arrested and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Per the indictment, prosecutors claim that Combs forced or coerced women into participating in “freak offs” and would allegedly leverage his power and influence to do so.

As Combs allegedly recorded the “freak offs,” Cassie lived afraid of how it would impact herself and her family, as she explained during day three of her testimony.

“[I] feared for my career. I feared for my family,” she said, per CBS News. “It’s just embarrassing, all of it.”
